Kisspeptin-10 - C-Terminal KISS1 Decapeptide Research Compound

Kisspeptin-10 is the 10-amino-acid C-terminal fragment of the KISS1 protein, first identified as a metastasis-suppressor before its role at the top of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis was mapped. The full KISS1 protein is cleaved into smaller active fragments (KP-54, KP-14, KP-13, KP-10) - all of them signal through the same KISS1R (GPR54) receptor, but KP-10 is the shortest fully-active fragment and the most-studied research sequence. It sits upstream of GnRH in the reproductive axis, which is why it is the reference compound in research on HPG-axis regulation.

Why KISS1R’s Position at the Top of the HPG Axis Matters

GnRH is the traditional “master” of the reproductive hormone cascade. Kisspeptin sits one level upstream - kisspeptin neurons in the arcuate and preoptic hypothalamus project directly onto GnRH neurons and drive GnRH pulse onset. That position is what makes KP-10 research distinct from GnRH-analog research: KP-10 triggers the body’s own native GnRH pulse rather than bypassing it. The published literature uses that property to study pulse generation itself, not just downstream LH/FSH/testosterone output.

Itinerario En pocas palabras, esto es lo que hace
KISS1R (GPR54) Agonized - activates kisspeptin neurons projecting onto GnRH cells
GnRH pulse Triggered - native hypothalamic GnRH release, not bypass
LH / FSH Downstream pulse from pituitary
Testosterone / estradiol Gonadal steroidogenesis response to LH pulse

Kisspeptin-10 vs GnRH Analogs

Kisspeptin-10 and GnRH analogs both raise LH and testosterone in published work, but they act at different points in the axis.

Compuesto Nivel de eje What it triggers
Kisspeptina-10 Above GnRH Native GnRH pulse from the hypothalamus
GnRH / gonadorelina GnRH receptor Direct pituitary LH/FSH release
hCG LH receptor Direct gonadal steroidogenesis (bypasses hypothalamus and pituitary)

Aplicaciones de investigación

Kisspeptin-10 is used in studies examining:

  • HPG-axis regulation and native GnRH pulse generation
  • LH / FSH pulsatility and downstream steroidogenesis endpoints
  • Reproductive endocrinology research (hypogonadotropic hypogonadism models)
  • Puberty-onset and Kallmann syndrome genetic research
  • Comparative research vs GnRH agonists and hCG
  • Reproductive neuroendocrinology - arcuate KNDy neurons

Published clinical and preclinical Kisspeptin-10 literature is available through PubMed, Google Scholar, and other peer-reviewed databases. WWP does not provide protocol design, dosing guidance, or administration parameters. Those decisions rest with the researcher and any applicable institutional review board.

Common Questions About Kisspeptin-10 Research

What is Kisspeptin-10 used for in research?

It is studied as the master regulator of the HPG axis. Published work covers native GnRH pulse generation, downstream LH/FSH/testosterone endpoints, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and Kallmann syndrome models, and comparative research against GnRH analogs and hCG.

What is the difference between Kisspeptin-10 and Kisspeptin-54?

Both are active fragments of the same KISS1 protein and both signal through the KISS1R receptor. KP-54 is the longer natural cleavage product and is sometimes used when a longer plasma half-life is relevant to the study design. KP-10 is the shortest fully-active fragment and is more commonly cited in the published research literature.

How does Kisspeptin-10 compare to GnRH or gonadorelin?

Kisspeptin-10 acts one level upstream of GnRH. It binds KISS1R on hypothalamic kisspeptin neurons, which then trigger native GnRH release. GnRH agonists bind the pituitary GnRH receptor directly. KP-10 research is used when the question is about pulse generation in the hypothalamus; GnRH agonists are used when the question is about downstream pituitary/gonadal response.

Is Kisspeptin-10 FDA approved?

No. Kisspeptin-10 is not FDA approved for any use. It is a research compound only and appears primarily in reproductive-endocrinology academic studies. Every vial WWP ships is labeled and sold strictly for laboratory and research use only.

How is Kisspeptin-10 stored?
